Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do once I hire Wix Property Tax Specialists, LLC?
We will send you a client questionnaire about your property via email. The questionnaire will help us better prepare for your hearing. If necessary, we will contact you by phone to discuss your property. The process should only take a few minutes of your time.
How much does your service cost?
All you pay is a percentage of the savings Wix Property Tax Specialists, LLC achieves for you. This arrangement allows property owners to obtain our services with no up front costs, and provides potential tax savings to property owners at virtually no risk.
Do fees for savings in the current year carry forward to future years?
No. Fees are based on a percentage of tax savings for the current year. For future years, your contract remains in effect until you cancel it. Each year the contract is in effect, we will protest your value for you. Fees are due only if your value is reduced in the year in question. You may cancel the contract at any time.
Will I have to attend the hearing?
No. One of the benefits of employing Wix Property Tax is that we will attend the hearing for you and present the necessary evidence.
How can Wix Property Tax get my taxes lowered?
Real property is valued according to market value as of January 1st each year. Mass appraisal techniques are applied to the market, income, and cost approaches to determine value for taxation. Wix Property Tax has extensive experience in mass appraisal and how this process works in Texas. We will utilize the information you provide us, as well as analyze your property, gather market data, and present the evidence in a concise and effective manner to ensure your valuation is fair and equal.
Can I protest the value myself?
Yes, you can. However, many times an intimate knowledge of market data and how the system works is necessary to obtain the best results. The benefit of employing Wix PTS is that we are a full service property tax firm and our years of experience can assist you in the protest process.
Is time limited for filing a protest?
Absolutely! For most property types the protest deadline is May 15 of the current year, or 30 days after your appraisal notice is mailed, which ever is later.
Timing is critical, because once the deadline to protest has passed it becomes much more difficult to receive a hearing. Because of this it is critical that you contact us quickly to ensure a protest is filed timely.
